PEGASUS is an acronym built from the first letters of our main themes, Peace, Global Health and Sustainability. Appropriately, the symbolism of the Pegasus – a white, winged horse of Greek mythology captures the essence and spirit of the conference. Since ancient times the Pegasus has been an emblem of inspiration, imagination, knowledge, glory, and an icon of power, wisdom and speed of thought.
PEGASUS’ symbolism of strength, purity, justice and power to transform ‘evil into good’ is the embodiment of all that we hope to achieve through our conference activities to improve global health by fostering peace and sustainability.
Our aim is to advance awareness and knowledge of Global Health issues, locally and abroad framed through a lens of peace and sustainability. The conference will do so by bringing together physicians, health professionals, students, health-related organizations and community members to share their innovative ideas and concepts on the dynamics of Global Health and the socio-ecological determinants that impact health worldwide.
A key outcome of the conference will be the development and refinement of new ideas of advocacy and participation in global change towards peace, health and sustainable solutions. We expect to foster a growing commitment towards service in Global Health, as well as an appreciation for diversity, interdisciplinary learning and interprofessionalism within the field.
